The Colonial States Athletic Conference announced this morning that it has accepted ACAA member University of Valley Forge for membership effective July 1, 2020.
"We formed the ACAA with the goal of giving league members a "home" conference to call their own. We also knew the ACAA could be a stepping stone as some institutions pursued more local/regional options. This understanding has always been considered as one of the integral parts of the design of the ACAA," said ACAA Commissioner Dr. Kelly J. Higgins.
"The University of Valley Forge has been great founding member of the league and has always been willing to step up to the plate through the formation process. In addition, the 2017-18 UVF women's basketball team will forever be eched in league history as the first ACAA team to be selected to a NCAA championship."
"We wish the Patriots the very best. The ACAA has been in discussions with several institutions about joining the league and continues to have a goal of adding to its' membership in the near future."
The ACAA sponsors championships in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball and softball. The ACAA was founded in 2017 with Alfred State, Finlandia, UMaine-Presque Isle, Mills, Pine Manor, SUNY Canton, SUNY Delhi and Valley Forge as members. The members of the ACAA in 2018-19 were: Alfred State, Finlandia, Mills, Mount Mary, Pine Manor, Pratt, SUNY Delhi, Thomas More and Valley Forge.
