Saints Dominate All-ACAA Volleyball Team

Emily Mohs of Thomas More has been named Player and Freshman of the Year and highlights the All-ACAA Volleyball Team as selected by the league's coaches. Thomas More, the 2018 ACAA Volleyball Champions, swept the special awards.

The Saints' Jessica Ginn was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year while Jenna Fessler picked up Setter of the Year honors and coach John Spinney was honored by his peers as Coach of the Year.

Statistical leaders on the first team include Mohs in kills per set (3.91), kills (414) and hitting percentage (.321); Jessie Diaz in digs per set (5.47); Jenna Mummert in blocks per set (0.83); Madison Webster in service aces per set (0.77) and Jenna Fessler in assists per set (9.47). In addition, Defensive Player of the Year honoree Jessica Ginn led the league in digs with 619.

Kristen Maslanka of SUNY Delhi is the first athlete in league history to be a two-time first-team honoree. Other 2018 first-team honorees repeating on the All-ACAA team are Madison Webster of Alfred State and Jessie Diaz of Finlandia, both of whom where second-team honorees in 2017.

 

Spinney led Thomas More to a 31-3 mark and the ACAA championship in their first year in the league. The Saints are currently ranked seventh in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll and are likely to receive a bid to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championships when they are announced later today.
