Mariah Austin of Finlandia and William Knight of SUNY Delhi have been named the American Collegiate Athletic Association Basketball Players of the Week.
Austin, a freshman guard from Neguanee, MI, had two double-doubles as Finlandia broke into the win column with wins over Great Lakes Christian and Silver Lake. She had 25 points, 17 rebounds and three steals vs. Great Lakes Christian (Jan. 3). Austin followed that up with 15 points, 12 rebounds and two steals against Silver Lake (Jan. 6). She shot 51.9% (14-27) from the field including a 3-of-7 effort from behind the three-point arc.
Knight, a junior guard from Valley Stream, NY (Valley Stream South HS) helped SUNY Delhi to wins over MCLA (86-62) and Penn College (110-72). He averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 50% (15-30) from the field and three-point land (5-10).
