Samiaya Salley of SUNY Delhi and Tahaij Lewis of Alfred State have been named the American Collegiate Athletic Association Basketball Players of the Week.
Salley, a junior guard from Highland Falls, NY (James I. O'Neill HS), scored game-winner against Morrisville State with 0.9 seconds to play, recording first 30-point game of season. She also tallied her second career 40-point game versus Central Penn Sunday, marking second time she achieved the feat against Central Penn. In three games last week Salley averaged 31.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while shooting 49.3 percent from the field (35-71) including 44.4 percent from behind the three-point arc (16-36).
Lewis, a senior forward from Rochester, NY (Greece Olympia HS), had a big week. He had 27 points and 18 rebounds in a win over Wells and recorded another double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds in a win over Bryant & Stratton Rochester. He grabbed three rebounds in only five minutes, before an injury, in the Pioneers other contest. Lewis shot 70.4% from the field (19-27) for the week.
